Las UNISON Branch Launches Computer Course

On the 19 January 2004 UNISON held their first course exclusively for LAS stewards. It was a resounding success with everyone stating that courses with ambulance staff only  were better. The course was run in association with the WEA (Workers Educational Association) in Luke Street, EC2 which most people agreed was an ideal central location.

For some learners it was the first time they had ever used a computer and this course had taught  them to browse the web, send & receive e-mails and other functions that will enable them to carry out their trade union duties more effectively. Everyone was looking forward to the next step.

It is hoped that we could run more courses, such as the introductory steward and introductory health & safety exclusively for new LAS representatives and we are looking in to offering computer courses to all UNISON members as well as we are firmly committed to modern information technology and believe all our members should know how they can access the internet and use e-mail.
