The pay archive page has been set up to archive all stories previously published on the Pay page. This will ensure that the page does not get too cluttered with news stories and only current news is displayed.
This would mainly be for research purposes as stories will usually only be archived once the campaign has ended although a prolonged campaign may have some earlier stories placed here. As ever we welcome your feedback on this and every section of the website. Newer stories will be placed at the top of the page.
If you are looking for Agenda for Change articles then please go to the AfC archive.

UNISON members say yes to NHS pay offer
UNISON members working in the NHS have voted to accept a multi-year pay offer worth more than 8%An individual postal ballot of 452,000 members working in the NHS saw 64.91% of those taking part vote to accept the three-year offer worth 8.1% and more to some members.

UNISON to consult NHS members on 8% offer
UNISON, the largest public sector union, will consult its members working in the National Health Service over a proposed pay deal worth 8% over the next three years. It includes a re-opener clause that will allow the pay increases in years two and three to be reviewed if inflation is higher than expected. more

Fighting for a fair deal for public service workers
This year, public service pay matters - more than ever. With inflation at more than 4%, a 2% pay limit is not on. We are determined to secure decent pay rises for our members.

Unsocial Hours Update
UNISON has won an agreement that ambulance workers can stay on the current Unsocial Hour Payment agreement and not be moved over to the new proposed system.
The current 25% maximum unsocial hour payment system was part and parcel within the introduction of Agenda for Change in 2004. It was, however, a temporary system until a new one could be agreed between the Unions and the Department of Health at a national level.
When a proposed new system was sent out to consultation it soon became obvious that the majority of ambulance staff in all services throughout the UK would lose out by up to 6%.
The evidence that was sent to the National Staff Council by the LAS in partnership with the staff side also showed major loses for the majority of our staff. After months of negotiations it has now been agreed that all ambulance staff in all ambulance trusts (England and Northern Ireland) will be withdrawn from the proposed new system and be allowed to stay as we are. Those staff within ambulance trusts that were not on the current system will be moved over on to it by 2011.

Because the agreement to ‘de-couple’ ambulance trusts is part of the new proposals (paragraph 5) that will be sent out to ballot, it is important that ambulance staff vote YES on the ballot paper. This will ensure the new proposals are accepted which will contain the agreement to ‘de-couple’ ambulance trusts in England and Northern Ireland from the proposals and keep us on the current unsocial hour system.

This may seem confusing, but the simple thing to do is vote YES.
The ballot details are:
Sent out – 25th January 2008
Return date – by 10.00 on 15th February 2008.

Pay Update

Following discussions at meetings of the Staff Council Executive on 24 and 30 July between the NHS trades unions, NHS Employers and the Department of Health, the Secretary of State has confirmed that the following offer can be made in respect of staff in England:

£400 for staff on pay points 1-7 with 1.5% payable from 1 April 2007 and the remainder from 1 November 2007.
2.5% + £38 for staff on pay points 8-18 with 1.5% from 1 April 2007 and the
remainder from 1 November 2007.
2.5% with 1.5% payable from 1 April 2007 and with the balance from 1 November 2007 for all other staff.
Funding to the equivalent of £25 per member of staff who is not required to have clinical professional registration to practice.
A payment of £38 a year to AfC clinical staff in bands 5-8(A) inclusive who are in professions where registration is a mandatory requirement of practice to support the payment of fees for their clinical registration from 2007 to 2010 inclusive, by when it will have been jointly reviewed.

UNISON’s Health Service Executive believes that this is the best offer that can be achieved through negotiation. It therefore follows that if members wish to reject the offer, they must also be prepared to support industrial action in the event of a subsequent industrial action ballot.

An individual member postal ballot of all UNISON members will be held between 20th August and the 13th September 2007on whether to accept the offer.
