MANUAL
HANDLING POLICY
It may have taken nearly two and half years to get
passed but the draft has now finally become policy.
Although I accept it might not sound very exciting
the policy contains revolutionary changes for
frontline staff, the most significant being the
availability of local fast track physiotherapy for
muscular skeletal injuries. If you would like a copy
of the policy contact me via the website.

Handling from the HSE.
Pegasus T. Bed
Has been chosen as the trolley bed to replace the
Falcon 6. The bed (although far from perfect) is
without doubt an improvement on its predecessor
mainly because it is 10Kg lighter, can be raised or
lowered from both sides and also supports go faster
wheels. It now comes complete with Oxy-clip + Drip
stand.
All frontline staff should now have been issued with
their radiation pagers. If you have not then speak
to your station rep or management team.
Mangar Elks
(Purchased in March 2003).
These should now be accessible to all staff.
There
is work currently ongoing to produce a vehicle that
will be capable of conveying patients in excess of
20 stone. Initially there will be four of these
vehicles and hopefully this project will be
completed for Christmas. Please address any
questions/queries to Dear Santa…
