(19/04/07) UNISON is
demanding a fair pay deal for health workers for 2007/2008.
The independent review body recommended a 2.5% increase for all
clinical staff from 1 April 2007. This is below the current rate
of inflation.
The government then decided to stage the pay increase with a
1.5% increase from 1 April this year with the remaining 1% from
1 November 2007. This effectively reduced the increase to 1.9%
over the year.
UNISON has warned employers that they must genuinely negotiate
to improve this offer - if they don’t then the union is prepared
to ballot all members on industrial action.
