LAS UNISON launches vote on whether or not there should be a Referendum on the E.U. Reform Treaty.
UNISON, and now TUC policy is to call for a Referendum on the E.U. Reform Treaty, which many people say is overwhelmingly the same (97% the same in the words of one UNISON National Executive Council member) as the E.U. Constitution which was thrown out by referenda in The Netherlands & in France.
The London Ambulance Service Branch wants to be the first – the only? – organisation in London giving Londoners the chance to vote on whether or not there should be a Referendum on this Treaty, which is widely believed to change fundamentally our ability to govern ourselves.

BLS/ALS courses
Due to some concerns of UNISON members regarding the new BLS/ALS courses, our Branch sought a meeting with the relevant people. UNISON representatives on the joint training group, led by Eddie Brand, agreed a new way forward which should ease most of our member's worries. A more detailed letter will be published soon explaining the changes.
Key Points:
  • The written paper will no longer be a pass or fail on the module
  • The written paper will be released to paramedics so that they may use it for some pre learning before attending the course.
  • The practical assessment remains a pass/fail

Unsocial Hours Update
